Deborah Halvorsen has been a Board Certified Family Law
Specialist through the North Carolina State Bar Board of Legal Specialization
since 2003. She specializes in complex litigation relating to alimony and
equitable distribution. as well as child custody and child support.
Ms.Halvorsen, a shareholder attorney, has practiced at Davis & Harwell, P.A.
since becoming licensed in 1998.
In 1995, Ms. Halvorsen graduated cum laude from Saint Mary's College in Notre
Dame, Indiana, earning a B.A. in history and sociology. She graduated from Wake
Forest University School of Law with a J.D. in 1998.
Ms. Halvorsen was admitted to practice in North Carolina in 1998. She is also
admitted to practice before the United States District Court in the Middle
District.
Ms. Halvorsen was a member of Phi Alpha Delta, a member of the Moot Court Board
National Team 1997-1998. Recipient of Moot Court Board Award in 1998, North
Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers Award in 1998, and the National Association of
Women Attorney's Board. She is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association,
the North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers, the National Association of Women
Attorneys , and the Forsyth County Bar Association.
Ms. Halvorsen serves on the board of the Family Law Section of the North
Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers, where she is currently Chair of the
Continuing Legal Education. She regularly plans and presents for both the North
Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers and the North Carolina Bar Association, most
recently on topics such as Family Law Practice before the Clerk (August 2006)
and Basics of Family Law- Child Support (November 2006). She was active in the
Forsyth County Young Lawyers' Division, where she served as President from
2003-2004.
